Stuyvesant Speech & Debate

2017- 2018

We represent one of the most honorable organizations both nationally and at Stuyvesant. Our emphasis on public-speaking, self-expression and confidence isn't only aimed at training national competitors and finalists; it's aimed at training future leaders. This team represents a second family for every single one of us.

[UPDATED] Students and parents, the Annual Team Dinner has been scheduled to take place on June 14th, 2014 at 5:30pm. Please see the following message from Mr. Hirsch, who is helping us coordinate the event.

Just a quick reminder that our End of Year event scheduled for this coming Saturday, June 14th will soon be upon us. To date, we've received 250 responses via the Speech and Debate website and a small number of parents have signed up via the dinner’s website (host: Hirsch and password: 9931) for some sort of food and/or beverage to donate to this event. To those of you who have already registered and signed up for a donation, we send our hearty thanks and to those of you who may have forgotten to reply, please log in at and sign up to contribute with much needed food or beverage items. We want this dinner to be not only a memorable event for our graduating seniors, but also a proper celebration of an outstanding year for our Speech and Debate Students.

Stuyvesant Speech and Debate Parents:

The 2013-2014 Speech & Debate season is soon coming to an end. Our students have achieved impressive individual accomplishments, and our team has carried on its successful legacy, winning the New York State Championship and qualifying members to both the National Catholic Forensic League Grand Tournament and the National Forensic League Championship. The annual team dinner on Saturday June 14th is not only a fitting celebration of this team’s efforts and achievements. It is also the last time all of our graduating seniors will be with us before they embark on another journey to develop their academic careers in college.

As Ms. Sheinman and the team captains are working on the details of Saturday’s Ceremony, I am again asking for your support in helping us serve dinner in the cafeteria following the ceremony. To replicate the outstanding parent participation we had in hosting the Stuyvesant Grand Event back in March, I am looking for parents to set up the tables in the cafeteria and to bring their favorite pot luck dishes, cold salads, beverages, and deserts. We expect more than 300 students, parents, family members, coaches and guests.

I will be setting up the event again on and we will use the email address for further communications.

I was hoping only to give you some advance notice of this wonderful event. More details will be sent out in the few weeks leading up to Saturday, June 14th.

I look forward to seeing you all. Your generous participation is greatly appreciated.

Warm regards,
